A village-wide inventory of water service lines will be conducted over the next 60 days. This is part of a federal mandate from the Environmental Protection Agency to account for and replace any existing lead service lines. This is the portion of the water line running from the village shut-off outside your residence, to the water meter inside your home.
The inventory will require a Village of Tiskilwa employee to have access to your existing water meter to evaluate the incoming service line and related equipment. The appointments will be coordinated through the village office and will require access for 5-10 minutes at each service address. Residents who have recently received new water meters will not require an appointment as this inspection was conducted at the time of replacement.
The village is pursuing grant funding to cover the costs associated with the potential replacement of any lead service lines that are found. At this time we are unaware of any lead service lines inside the village.
